Florida Real Estate Licensing Guide
A Florida Real Estate Sales Associate is a licensed professional who assists buyers, sellers, landlords, and tenants with real estate transactions. To become licensed in Florida, you must meet the state's eligibility requirements, complete a DBPR-approved pre-licensing course, pass the state examination, and activate your license with a licensed broker.
This guide walks you through each step of the Florida real estate licensing process and provides links to official state resources.
Before applying for a Florida Real Estate Sales Associate license, you must:
Complete a DBPR-approved 63-Hour Florida Sales Associate Pre-License Course. This course satisfies Florida's education requirement and prepares you for the state licensing examination.

Submit your Florida Real Estate Sales Associate License Application (DBPR RE-1) to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). Applications may be submitted online through the DBPR Online Services Portal.
Complete electronic fingerprinting through a Florida-approved Livescan provider. Your fingerprints will be submitted for a state and federal background check.
After your application is approved, schedule your licensing examination with Pearson VUE. The Florida Sales Associate Examination consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, and a score of 75% or higher is required to pass.
Once you pass the state examination, your license must be activated with a Florida-licensed broker before you may practice real estate.
